Women on Water Fishing Competition - 9th January

The St Helens Gamefishing Club Inc. have established this competition to encourage females of ALL AGES to participate in recreational and sport fishing in Tasmania. Open to Members and Non Members Statewide. Entry fee is only $10 per angler. Don't have access to a boat? Don't fear.... we can put you in contact with someone who has!

St Helens Grand Slam - 23rd January

There have been a few whispers around about a St Helens, Georges Bay, fishing competition. I have wanted to do this for a few years, and especially since commercial and recreational netting was stopped here about eight years ago. The fishing at Georges Bay has improved immensely and now is the time. The date of the event is St Helens Regatta day and it will be part of the day's events.

We have a few things to sort, but it will go something like this. Artificial lure or fly only, no berley. Three fish will make up the Grand Slam. Australian salmon, silver trevally and bream. Catch these three, measure them each and add the lengths together for a total length. A twist though is extra species. Every additional species gets you an extra two centimetres. You might catch an extra five species, so that would give you another 10 points. Goto Tasfish.com for additional information and entry details.

Spring Bay Saltwater Hook Fishing Classic - 20th & 21st March

Rules and regulations briefing to be held at Tandara Hotel Motel at Triabunna on Friday 19th March at 7pm. Competition starts at sunrise Saturday 20th March. Weigh in: Saturday 4pm till 6pm and Sunday 3pm to 4.30pm. Prize presentation on Sunday 5.30pm. Coles Bay Game Fishing Classic - 20th & 21st March.

All fishing is to be conducted within the rules of the Game Fishing Association of Australia and the International Game Fishing Association www.gfaa.asn.au. Entries will be on a team per boat basis.
